Hi. I’m Judy Almazan Stuhmer. Welcome.
Indivdual Counseling for trauma, grief, and life transitions. In-person and online, located in Seattle, Washington.
“That luminous part of you that exists beyond personality—your soul, if you will—is as bright and shining as any that has ever been....
Believe it exists, come to know it, nurture it, share its fruits tirelessly.”
~George Saunders
In today’s world, most of us have experienced some kind of trauma. While the word is used more often now and means different things to different people, at its core, trauma simply means wound. Wounds can affect us personally or as a whole, and can be obvious or difficult to name. Sometimes there aren’t words to describe what you’re feeling, there’s just a felt sense that something is off. Whatever you may be experiencing or experienced—and however it shows up in your life— know these are natural responses to what has happened to you, not who you are.
I’ve come to see that many of the struggles we face, both individually and collectively, are rooted in these wounds. But I’ve also seen that healing is possible. As we begin to understand and care for our wounds, they can become a source of profound transformation, liberation, and joy. This is my hope for you.
After a winding path and long career in the creative industry, I made the decision to go back to school to become a counselor. I earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle with an additional certification in Trauma.
I’m inspired to uncover ways family, culture, and systems of oppression impact our sense of self, values and overall health. Naturally curious, I’m committed to strengthening interconnection and contributing to people’s well-being on deeper, more meaningful levels.
