What is EMDR
EMDR Info
We are out of network with all insurance providers. This means that you are responsible for paying out-of-pocket for sessions due at time of service. If you are eligible for out-of-network benefits, we can provide you with an itemized statement (superbill) taht you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Below are some questions to ask your insurance provider regarding mental health/therapy and out-of-network benefits:
Is mental health included in my insurance plan? If yes, what are my out-of network benefits regarding mental health?
What is my copay, coinsurance, or deductible for out-of-network mental health visits? Have I met the deductible yet?
How many therapy sessions are covered per calendar year, and do I need prior authorization? Does this include seeing a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA)?
Are medication management appointments covered?
What is the reimbursement rate for individual therapy sessions?
What is the process for submitting claims for out-of-network therapy?

We are motivated to help our clients and ourselves live our best lives. Insurance companies are motivated to make as much money as possible. These goals are not in alignment. Insurance reimbursement rates do not allow therapists to make a living wage while maintaining a reasonable caseload. Also, insurance companies’ ideas about what is best for clients (actually what’s best for the insurance company) do not allow therapists to use their clinical judgment and experience to provide clients with the best care. We believe that therapists’ time and skills should be used to assist clients, not trying to extract payment from and justify care to a broken system.
We applaud the therapists who have the resources to work within the insurance system. For my our own well-being and to provide the best service to clients, we are opting out.
If you would like to find a therapist who works with your insurance provider, here are two excellent resources that allow you to search by location, insurance, and other criteria.
