Working with Me
“The inner teacher is our primary guide, the only one that can lead us to our highest truth.”
~Sheri Mitchell, Sacred Instructions
What I Believe
Working collaboratively, I offer a warm, open presence. I approach counseling from a holistic perspective meaning I consider the whole person as I understand bodies, emotions, thoughts, and spirits to be intricately linked. I trust we’re all born with innate wisdom and have everything within us to transform. I see our relationship as co-created, mutually shared, and a place of safety and trust where together we set the conditions for change.
Working Together
I bring my humanness and life experience to the therapeutic space along with education and training. In this process, my aim is not only to understand barriers that interfere with your well-being but to also honor your fortitude, all within the context of your unique life experience.
Balancing structure and flexibility, we’ll explore what’s most important to you; examine relational patterns, coping strategies, and beliefs that may be outdated or no longer serving you; address unprocessed trauma; build upon your strengths; and fortify reconnection to your own sense of knowing.
My Influences
My work is trauma-informed and influenced by many sources which include existential psychology, parts work/Internal Family Systems-informed (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), polyvagal theory (relating to our nervous system), multiculturalism, and liberation psychology. I also work from a somatic perspective, which means learning the language of our bodies. Attuning to our body is a step toward understanding the effects of trauma and restoring trust and safety within.
Who I Work With
Having worked in both community health and group practice settings, I have experience working with adults (18+) from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds including BIPOC, and LGBTQAI2S+ individuals. I help folks looking for support with life challenges rooted in family of origin, identity and belonging, toxic work places, single-event and complex trauma, grief, substance use, and life transitions.
