About Judy

Hi. I’m Judy Almazan Stuhmer (she/her). I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in a household with parents of different cultures. My father immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines and my mother was a second-generation Polish/Lithuanian-American. I was the youngest of four children and the only girl with three older brothers.

As a bi-cultural/mixed-race person, I always felt like I was living in-between spaces and from a very early age, I struggled with a sense of belonging. My life’s journey thus far has been a process of discovery and practice of reconnection to self—one which cannot be done alone. With so much gratitude, I’ve benefited from the wisdom of countless teachers in a variety of environments. I’ve been able to examine many aspects of myself far beyond my mixed-race identity and unlearn some of the effects of internalized oppression—the negative and limiting beliefs bestowed upon us by family, culture, and oppressive systems. As I grow and continue to do my own personal work, I try to remain open to what life brings in all its complexities.

In addition to my bi-cultural/mixed heritage, I also identify as an able-bodied, gen X, renter, cisgender woman with a punk rock spirit. Outside the therapy space, I can be found around town enjoying art, food, live music, movies, and comedy.
